My family at Moonlight Beach in maybe 1989??? See, this photo has been in a box and I can't remember all of the details. Hopefully my family does.
Strangers In A Box
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box, I’ve often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still serene;
I wish I knew these people
These strangers in the box.
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks;
I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I’ll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where and when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the picture we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday will pass away.
Make time to save your stories;
Seize opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in this box!

I wanted to share one of my favorite poems with you because I am spending my day today scanning. I had posted about my sister moving to "the island" (that is how we are referring to the place she moved to). She has been sending me boxes of all of her photos for the past four months. She did not want to travel with the BOXES of photos. So she sent them to me and my scanner. The other night I got the last two boxes from her. I have to tell the truth and say that I have not even opened all of her boxes....There are a lot of boxes and I was fearful that if I opened any of them before I was ready to scan then some would get out of order or the little ones would get into them. But I did open these two boxes the other night. I spend an hour just going through them and remembering some really really fun times. I am scanning today and even more I can't wait to storybook them all.
It is free giveaway time again. This is my 2nd giveaway. No one believed me but Shara last time I posted that I was giving a book away. This time I am giving away a poster credit and a family tree template. So what are the rules? Every family has a historian. You know that person that inherits all of the family photos and family journals. The person that does the family history. The person that scrapbooks or storybooks. Leave a comment telling me two things
1. who the historian in your family is.
2. in theme of the poem, Where are your photos?
Every family has one, most call them historians and I like to call them Heritage Makers. The deadline for this is Next Friday.Don't let yourself and your cute ones become strangers in a box or in our day, Strangers in a computer.
